PREMIERE: Dream Machines Release New Single “Part Of Your Dreams”

For fans of Prince and Twin Shadow, we have the perfect band for you. We’re pleased to team up with Dream Machines with their somewhat 80s-ish newest single “Part Of You Dreams”.

Los Angeles-based Dream Machines are centered around the songwriting duo of Harry May Kline (vocals, guitar) and Luke Burba (synthesizers, bass, vocals). Inspired in part by their love of dance and soul music from the seventies and eighties, their sound focuses on powerful grooves and multi-layered instrumentation driven by May Kline’s unique vocal prowess. Along with the rest of the band — Travis Bunn (drums), Matt Brown (saxophone) and Molly WK (vocals, percussion) — Dream Machines boast a sound that harkens back to the rose-colored past while keeping one foot securely in the present. Last year, the band was seen at Desert Gold (feat. Com Truise and Nancy Whang) in Palm Springs for a live set in collaboration with Moog Music Inc., which featured their massive System 55 modular synth. They were also seen headlining LA venues such as The Resident and The Hi Hat. This year, after playing Broke LA Festival (feat. Brasstracks and James Supercave), Dream Machines are set to co-headline the Troubadour (with Superet) on June 30th to promote the release of their new single/music video, “Feel It.”

In the bridge of “Feel It,” a looming vocoder and a chorus of chanting voices ask, “Can you feel it in your bones or is it phantom vibe?” As the synthesizers rise and the saxophone cacophony begins to take shape, it all starts to make sense – “The future is forthcoming all you have to do is FEEL IT!” You can ask anyone who’s seen a Dream Machines concert – their staple as a live band is getting every concertgoer to bust out on the dance floor.  By the end of “Feel It,” there’s never anyone left behind. It’s not phantom vibe at all. The feeling is real, and it’s everywhere. Tell your parents. The music video for “Feel It” was directed by Liz Nistico of Holychild, who brought her retro-futuristic, kaleidoscopic emoji-kitsch aesthetic to the Dream Machines party. It’s a tongue-in-cheek whirlwind of synchronized dancing and bright colors, and it’s hard to look away. By the end of the video, you’ll have travelled all around the world, witnessed the resurrection of a dead saxophone soloist, met your new best friend (who may or may not be a puppet), and questioned the nature of what it means to feel anything at all. “Feel It” comes paired with B-side, “Part of you Dreams,” which turns down the tempo knob and ups the sad boy knob as the mood switches from loudly dancing and yelping to subtly swaying and yearning for lost love. May Kline’s voice really shines here, as its many layers rest upon a minimal drum machine and a bed of classic synthesizer sounds. “Our love’s a crowded room, without any walls” illustrates an anxiety about modern romance that weaves its way through many of the band’s lyrics.

“Feel It” and “Part of your Dreams” are the first two songs released by Dream Machines in 2017, and they definitely won’t be the last. “We have three or four other singles recorded that we can’t wait to share with everyone,” says Burba. “We feel these new recordings showcase a side of the band that’s strongly emphasized in our live show – we really want to dance with you.”
