Home / Music / Artist Interviews / INTERVIEW: High Down

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Not good. Darrell couldn’t finish his chips.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Life Lessons”?

There isn’t a lot to tell. Please check it out on release and let us know what you think.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Of course, every song has to stem from personal life experiences or have some kind or meaning to the writer. The beauty with this track is we have written a song we believe the audience can relate to in their own way.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

There are definitely plans. We don’t want to give anything away at this point though. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media for updates.

The single comes off your new album Moving On – what’s the story behind the title?

The band was a fresh start and a new opportunity for every one of us, hence the name ‘Moving On’.

How was the recording and writing process?

Pretty sweet in general. We really struggled to not write a crap record so we hope it’s okay.

What was it like to work with Matt O’Grady and how did that relationship develop?

It was great, he’s a real gent. We went to the cinema, we held hands, but we didn’t kiss on the first date.

How much did he influence the album?

Jokes aside, he is so good at what he does. He didn’t influence the record as such but he had a lot of input on tightening things up.

How has Blink 182 and State Champs influence your writing?

Ha ha, so many different bands influence us all individually. That’s what helps us to create something unique. As much as these bands may be some of our influences, we wouldn’t say they specifically influenced the writing process in any way.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

The inspiration comes from our love of music and wanting to create something we are passionate about and everyone can relate to and enjoy. The lyrics come from personal life experiences that can be relatable by anyone in their own way.
