I’m going really well and thank you so much for featuring me!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single ‘Frozen’?
Frozen is the first single from my debut EP “I Fall Into Clouds of Dreams” and it’s a song I wrote about breaking away from unhealthy relationships or situations that don’t bring out the best in you.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I wrote the song shortly after initiating the breakup from a relationship, but drew inspiration from a number of experiences in my life where I’ve known that moving on is the right decision.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes! I have released a video which is available to stream on YouTube. The song Frozen is about breaking away from unhealthy relationships and I wanted the video to portray the relationship we all have with ourself. I’ve lived a colourful life and I’m constantly looking at ways I can be my own best friend. It is my belief that the basis of all positive change should start with loving yourself unconditionally. This is the message I envisaged when we created this video and it’s my hope that this video makes people feel better about themselves.
The single comes off your new album I Fall Into Clouds of Dreams – what’s the story behind the title?
I wanted to use a title that had strong imagery and the title is a line from the song “I Fall Into Clouds of Dreams”, the second song on my EP.
How was the recording and writing process?
I love writing music and, as it’s something I have done from a young age, it brings me great comfort and joy. Recording is something I am not as familiar with, so that was definitely a challenge, but I am so happy with the final result and I will be back in the studio again very soon!
How does Carole King and Adele influence your writing?
I’ve always gravitated towards strong female vocals and ballads accompanied with interesting and vulnerable storytelling. I think it’s incredibly powerful when artists share their stories in their music, especially when it’s executed so flawlessly.
What made you want to write an album about unhealthy relationships?
I think it’s something every individual has experienced and every relationship brings learning. I want to share the positive things I’ve learnt and inspire others to want the best for themselves, and not be afraid of what’s to come.
What aspect of this theme did you get to explore on the record?
My EP explores possibilities at the start of a relationship, moving forward in a positive way and reaching for the stars, even if you’re reaching on your own. It’s an EP with a positive message!
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes! I am hoping to tour nationally within Australia in the next 12 months, tour dates to be confirmed.
What else is happening next in Simone Spittle’s world?
At present I am planning out my first tour and following that, I will be heading back to the studio to record my debut album. In the meantime, I regularly stream live on Facebook and love sharing my quirks with people that support my art. I’m very excited for the future and have a lot of exciting plans!
