Produced by Scott Jacoby (John Legend, Coldplay, Vampire Weekend) and songwriter/ producer Orion (Kendra Erika, Majesty), ‘Monarch’ is a deeply grooving, dance floor ready showcase for Hamlin’s powerful aesthetic of combining elements of soul, funk, and Brit-pop underneath sensual, soulful vocals.

“I wrote ‘Monarch’ as a reminder to myself that, we all have the power to make a positive change in this world,” Hamlin says. “We have the power to overcome anything; and we can start by using the shining example of those who came before us like Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Theresa, and Gandhi. When we return to heart-centered living and leadership, we will prove that we are strong enough to move forward, no matter what.”

Shot on location in Brooklyn, New York, the accompanying video offers the stark image of Hamlin sitting stop a giant red and gold throne in the middle of Prospect Park, and later Atlantic Avenue, symbolizing his own return to spiritual and self empowerment.

“As an artist,” Hamlin says, “I hope to ultimately inspire others to some kind of action. Whether it’s to get up and start dancing, learn a new language, or run for office! I want to inspire joy and self-empowerment so that we may become the change we desire and move forward with understanding and compassion. When the spirit of love rules your body and soul, that’s what it means to have the heart of a Monarch,”
