Johnny Flynn unveils latest video for single “In The Deepest,” taken from his acclaimed fourth album Sillion out now on Transgressive Records. “In The Deepest” has been directed by long-term collaborator Simon Ryninks and is premiering now on NPR. [Watch here]

Director Simon Ryninks talking to NPR about the video: “Johnny has imbued ‘In The Deepest’ with a sense of ominous dread which I’ve tried to visualise. The video’s concept grew out of that and a general feeling of anxiety. The video is about finding hope in other people who share your world view and see things the way you do. The videos for Sillion are part of a wider collaboration between myself, Johnny, and my partner performer/photographer Hanna-Katrina Jedrosz. Each has explored a different theme.”

Much of the recording of Sillion was done whilst Flynn was starring in Martin McDonagh’s play Hangmen where he was playing a psychopath, Flynn says the role informed some of the darkness in the album’s lyrics. In The Deepest grew out of a film score commission and which Flynn describes as being about “a sense of foreboding … it has such a sense of maleficent drama to it.”

Johnny’s recent live shows, including a mesmeric sold out headline slot at St. John’s in Hackney, have led to an overwhelming demand to see him live. With the recently announced Roundhouse appearance having nearly sold out, a fresh run of UK and EU dates in October and November has now been confirmed. Dates include appearances in Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Brussels and Paris.

Flynn is currently starring in the first ever National Geographic-scripted series ‘Genius.’ The ten-part series will chart how an imaginative yet rebellious patent clerk – who couldn’t get a job as a doctorate – unlocked the mysteries of the atom and the universe. Johnny plays the young Einstein in tandem with Golden Globe winner Geoffrey Rush, who plays him in later life. The series has been directed by the legendary Ron Howard.
