Closing down our premiere week, we have Lizzy V who’s back with her newest Country-ish, acoustic driven, upbeat single “Out of Time”.
Originally from Rockanje in the Netherlands, 20-year-old Lizzy V began writing music at just 10 years old. Her talent at singing and songwriting became apparent just a few years later when she entered the Top 80 in the National Pre-Eurovision Song Contest, and then won Gigstarter Artist of 2015. Lizzy has performed with multiple Dutch music stars, as well as with her band on the NAMM Show. She was accepted into music conservatory schools in her country, but decided to pursue a full-time music career instead. Lizzy V currently takes turns residing in both the Netherlands and the United States, where she is working hard to at new singles and remixes.
In addition, she sit down with us to talk about the single and more!
Hi Lizzy, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi VENTS, So nice to be here, thank you for that. I have been very good. I just returned from my Ibiza tour which was amazing!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “OUT OF TIME”?
“Out of Time” is a really nice song. It is about getting older and the stages you go through while living life. People often say that getting older sucks but I want to spread the positive message that life is actually a beautiful thing and every stage has its charms.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Getting older is what inspired me to write this song. Maybe it is a bit stupid to hear from a 21-year-old but I don’t think that getting older is as bad as many people think. Every part of life has its pros and cons. So just enjoy the ride and don’t think about it too much.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes we definitely will! I am super excited to release the music video for “Out of Time”. It is going to be an epic one. But you will see it soon.
How was the recording and writing process?
I wrote “Out of Time” all by myself. I was just playing my guitar and suddenly this song came out of it. I did a demo of it an immediately liked it. We sent the demo to Louis Henry Sarmiento for Sonic Vista Studios to ask if he liked it too. And he did! My brother, the drummer of the band and I went to the studio to record all the parts and we let Henry mix and master it. At that point we knew we gave birth to an epic song.
What was it like to work with Louis Henry Sarmiento and how did that relationship develop?
Henry is an amazing guy. We met a year and a half ago on “Music and Dancefair” in Utrecht, The Netherlands. He did a master class and my manager and I were listening to his story. After that we just asked him to do a fully honest review on the demos I sent him. He did but also wanted a skype session because he really liked it and from that point we started working with him. He has been my mentor and I am very grateful for that. He really takes time to help me and stimulates me.
How much did he influence the song?
He did just the mixing and mastering part of it. I wrote the song myself, including all arrangements with a little help of my brother. Henry had no influence on that.
What role does the Netherlands play in your music?
The Netherland is where I do most of my gigs. Around 2 shows every week. The society here is an inspiration for my songs too. Next to that it doesn’t really play a role in my music, as I believe that we should think worldwide and all as one. We are all people and want to enjoy ourselves. That’s why I write for all people in all countries. I want to visit and play in all countries and travel the world.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
Yes and No. Yes I will definitely continue releasing new songs and they will be better and better as we are on a steep learning curve and our team gets even better as well but it will be single releases as I believe that in the fast world most people prefer to get frequent new songs released instead of an entire album once in a while. We have many songs underway, so if you want to follow me, I won’t let you down. Be surprised instead!
Any plans to hit the road?
I just finished my Ibiza tour. So that was great! Now I am making plans to go to Nashville, LA, Stockholm and maybe Shanghai to do shows and writing sessions for the coming 6 months. It is just very exciting!
What else is happening next in Lizzy V’s world?
Of course I will be releasing more songs. On Spotify but on many other streaming platforms too. I will be writing more songs and doing more shows on a larger scale. Next to that I will be on more adventures around the globe for the sake of good music and love of it. So if you want to follow my journey, be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook and check out my website.
