Rat & Co return with the stunning visuals to ‘A.I’

Ambient-electronic purveyors Rat & Co collaborate with Australian filmmaker Dyllan Corbett to create the captivating music video for their latest single ‘A.I’. Watch here

Released late last year, the track combines their signature ominous layers and head-nodding beats which promptly received glowing praise from the likes of Mixmag, Red Bull and Noisey. The accompanying video – shot in Berlin – marries perfectly with the song, continuing the post-apocalyptic theme explored in ‘A.I’, where the sampled vocals and mechanic musical terrain work in tandem with the juxtaposing middle-eastern inspired melody. A native aspiring model named Veronika Baron, plays the protagonist in the video and brought a vulnerability and softness to the character whilst displaying a “hard, industrial look that is endemic to Berlin”.

Discussing the idea behind the video the Dyllan has said, “A.I. is the story of an Android acquiring consciousness. Through the physical symbol of an Orb we explored the motif of dark and light. Shot in black and white, I wanted to highlight the dichotomy between selves; the binary and the animate. Moths to a flame, evolution drawing us closer to the thing that will ruin us – consciousness is just the first step.”
