I’ve been good… have been doing a lot of recording, writing, and producing for my new album.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Always Be There”?
Always Be There is one of my more laid-back songs from the album. I think it’s a kinda vibey/chill song that people might listen to after a long night or when they’re looking to space off.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I wrote Always Be There for this girl I really cared about… She was going through some really hard times, where in a matter of weeks it seemed like everything had fallen apart for her. I wrote the song so she would know that no matter what she was going through, she’d still have someone who was there for her. I think everyone needs to be reminded of that sometimes.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
I’m not sure. Maybe after I release more songs from the album.
How was the recording and writing process?
So I wrote the song last summer and then was able to co-produce and record with this incredibly talented production duo, The Agency, consisting of Mike Molina and Nelson Kyle. They heard the direction that I was going from my demo and then we continued expanding off of that and ended up bringing it to a new level.
How has Maroon 5 and Miguel influence your music?
I grew up listening to Songs About Jane–I’m a big fan of that album. Huge fan of Miguel’s, especially his latest album Wildheart. I think people will be able to hear that a little in my new album.
How’s your new album coming along?
It’s coming along really well. Still have a some more songs that I’m finishing before it’s ready, but definitely in a good place right now.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
End of summer/fall most likely.
Any plans to hit the road?
As of now I am focusing on finishing the album. After it’s done, I’ll look at what makes most sense for me to do.
What else is happening next in Teddy Edwards’ world?
Always Be There will be coming out on iTunes and Spotify soon. After that, I’ll probably release the second single off of the album.
