PREMIERE: Native Rapper and Activist Komplex Kai Releases Hard-Hitting New Single

Weekend is just around the corner, and while many of us probably are going to pay a visit to our local movie theater and enjoy some Wonder Woman, we got the best track for you to play during your road trip or for your next party – Komplex Kai is back with his new single “Still,” a hard-hitting track that blends incredibly energetic beats with Komplex fast-spit, in-your-face rhymes rapping.

Borne out of the Tulalip Reservation in Northwestern Washington State, Komplex Kai deals in a rare rap blend of West Coast beats, East Coast delivery and lyrical content that speaks to the experience of being a Native American in 2017. At a time when the Dakota Access Pipeline has once again bought Native rights to the forefront of the American media, Komplex Kai’s conscious lyrical styling seems more vital than ever.

Described as the “Native American Tupac”, Kai has been working on his craft for over a decade. His 2016 album Do Right, as well as his Freestyle Friday series on Youtube has earned him over 45k daily followers – a number that keeps growing with renewed focus on Native American rights and DAPL. Recently, one of these freestyles “Rise Up” was viewed over 380k times and shared over 8,700 times on Facebook alone.

The new single “Still” is a testament to Komplex Kai‘s roots. He seamlessly blends West Coast and East Coast traditions, as he walks the borderlands of Native and American culture.
