In the wake of releasing his incredible new album Hypnotic, Wilkinson has shared the vocal version of his latest single (now titled) ”Wash Away (Calling For You)”, which features added vocals from hotly-tipped newcomer Boy Matthews (Duke Dumont, High Contrast).
Speaking on the single, Wilkinson states: “The original version of ‘Wash Away’ on my album has been going down really well and the feedback has been amazing. I worked with Boy Matthews recently who recorded a vocal on the record and it really seemed to work so felt right to get it out there for the start of the summer!”
After dropping ‘Sweet Lies’ and underground banger ‘Brand New’, Wilkinson returned to 2017 with the hard-hitting ‘We Will Be’ before dropping his eagerly anticipated sophomore album Hypnotic in mid-April. Receiving rave reviews and mass-critical acclaim, the album peaked at #1 on the iTunes Dance Chart and #14 on the iTunes Album chart and became a Top 20 iTunes album in no less that 7 countries. https://Wilkinson.lnk.to/Hypnotic.
The video for the instrumental version of ‘Wash Away’ was filmed in and around Newquay, and features UK Number 1 and World Ranked UK Surf Champion, Tom Butler. Tom and Wilkinson met at Boardmasters festival last year, and realised that not only sharing a birthday, but also being the same age – they actually had a friend in common, Wilkinson’s cousin. While shooting this video, the pair noticed a swimmer in distress and swam out to rescue them… succeeding! A true story, and one that makes this visual and accompanying single all the more powerful, ‘Wash Away’ is a poignant and awe-inspiring moment on the Hypnotic album, and the visual, directed by Tai Chi, perfectly conveys the summer soundtrack.
To coincide with the launch of the album Wilkinson also embarked on his biggest sold out UK tour to date finishing with an incredible performance at London’s iconic Roundhouse on February 18th. After completing a run of Australia and US dates, he now has a huge Summer ahead of him, where he will set alight stages across the UK, Ibiza and beyond, including Glastonbury, Parklife, V Festival, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, SW4 and his summer residency at Together at Amnesia, Ibiza.
