South London based 4 piece Smooth Ends evoke early summer vibes with their new single, the psych/dance stomper single ‘Be A Man’. Listen here. Enlisting legendary indie producer Mark Wallis to mix the track (credits include Smiths, U2, Talking Heads and The La’s) they have delivered 3 minutes of deliciously danceable cream pop, which is as much an ode to growing up as it is a message of self acceptance, Luca and Kevin explain;
“We thought it would be amusing to approach a subject like masculinity with a dance-pop track using pretty chords and high pitched voices. In the end, we think it’s more about being yourself than being ‘a man’ or anything else that the rest of the world tells you to be.”
Sunshine and uplifting motifs are always on show in their music, mix this with four to the floor drums, psychedelic drops and a radio friendly French house inspired mix then you’ve got a young band at the top of their game. With members from Argentina, France, Chile and Miami, they’re clearly not your average London band, drawing on an outwardly positive approach to making music they explain:
“We’d rather use our art as a way of escaping reality and bring about some hope and positivity. Feeling the sun on your face or dancing to the beat of a song you love is something we can all relate to, and we feel like everyone needs some of this right now”
Continuing their output of infectious pop singles, ‘Be A Man’ follows previous track ‘Santa Ana’which enjoyed support from Earmilk, Clash, Indietronica, YouTube channel MOR Indie and much more. Other highlights include several tours of Europe and Spain where they have really resonated with their fan base, something which has translated into their Spotify plays. Summer dates also include Hogsozzle Festival, May 27th and Camper Calling, August 26th.
