Hi Daphne, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I’ve been great! Started getting back into yoga and it feels amaaaaazing 🙂
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Somebody’s Someone”?
I wrote the song with Jenn Bostic. We wrote the song for anyone who has been touched by addiction, mental health issues, homelessness, or all of the above. We have both been touched by these issues and know the pain that suffering can cause. All of these issues can be so extremely isolating. I wanted to write a kind of reminder to us all that we all matter.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
No.We wrote the song for anyone who has been touched by addiction, mental health issues, homelessness, or all of the above.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
There’s currently a video up on YouTube. I plan to make another video that with involve a lot of fan participation, and I will be announcing that soon.
How was the recording and writing process?
I wrote the song with Jenn Bostic in Nashville. I co-produced the song with Tyler Cain. Very wonderful to work on this song with friends 🙂
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! I have been in the studio recording several new songs which is going really welland I am really excited to release them into the world later this year.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
We are looking at releasing more new music sometime this summer. I haven’t decided on a title yet.
Would you be digging more into drug and other addictions throughout this new material?
Yes indeed. A lot of the content revolves around my personal experiences with self medication and getting off of alcohol.
Any plans to hit the road?
I’m on the road now! Looking like I’ll be on the road pretty non-stop through the rest of the summer/fall. Can’t wait for all these shows!
What else is happening next in Daphne Willis’ world?
Gonna be pretty tied up with shows and releasing music. Been an amazing year so far and it just keeps getting better 🙂
