INTERVIEW: Viv and the Revival

Hi Viv, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great! Thanks so much for having me!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Faded”?

It’s a bit of a departure stylistically for me, I wanted to expand and try things I hadn’t ever done before with my songs, and I’m super proud of how it turned out!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No particular event, me and Patrick Mencel, who co-wrote the song with me just wanted to write about this drug fueled relationship where everything is great as long as the couple in question is messed up on something, then when reality and the morning sets in it just doesn’t work out.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes! I’m shooting a video for it next week actually in Brooklyn. The video should be out by end of May!

How was the recording and writing process?

It was great! I co wrote the song with Patrick Mencel and Ian Walsh. We recorded it at both of their studios, and actually forgot about the song for a little while until my manager kept bringing it back up. We’re definitely stoked with the final result.

Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?

Absolutely! I have almost a full record ready, so we’re going to release a few more singles and then put the whole thing out soon!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Nothing concrete yet, but the title will be dope, I promise!

Would you be exploring other styles or themes on this new material?

Absolutely, it was great getting to work with a brand new team on all of these new songs. Patrick and Ian brought so much in terms of songwriting and production. Every song has its own vibe and identity.

Any plans to hit the road?

Got a lot of things in the works, and definitely excited to hit the road and get to play these songs for everyone!

What else is happening next in Viv and the Revival’s world?

I have a few songs that are getting placements on tv shows and commercials, so really stoked about that! Going to be putting out some remixes as well, and putting out the music video to “Faded” very soon!
