Doughouse Charlie have unveiled their newest track titled “Susquehanna”. Listen here
Doghouse Charlie is a Scranton PA- based audial exploration centered around composer Charles Davis. Operating alongside The Buck Knife, a raucous musical collective consisting of members from Pity Party, Cherokee Red, & the nu- grass group Cabinet, the outfit accompanies Davis’ compositions as they delve deep into the sonic wilderness.
Beginning as a nickname from Adult Swim’s ‘The Brak Show’, Doghouse Charlie has been a part of Davis’ life for a great many moons. Initially writing avant- garde musicals & electronic arrangements for now- defunct local news channels, Doghouse Charlie was reserved for Davis’ alternative musical endeavors. However, as time passed, the name was slowly absorbed by the world of pop music tag lines & branding, eventually settling in alongside the artist’s more conventional work.
Over the course of 2016, Doghouse Charlie & The Buck Knife have been frequently performing & hosting musical events all over eastern Pennsylvania, while simultaneously recording a full length album with audio engineer Mark Wohl at Wide Eyed Studios, located in the sanctuary/ safe space of the historic Downtown Arts building, center city Wilkes- Barre, PA. The album features The Buck Knife on full display, consisting of steady, running members Allison LaRussa, Andrew Sgarlat, Chelsea Collins, Matt Rattigan, & Todd Kopec, as well as features from musicians Chelsea Smarr (harp, noise), Salena Diaz (vox), Mark Wohl (engineer, guitar, noise), & Cherokee Red bandmate Brittany Thomas (vox, co- composer). The album can best be described as an intense exploration in songwriting, arrangement, and sonic expansion.
