NY-based soul pop group, Lawrence, has shared their new video for “Alibi.” Relix premiered the video today, calling the band “a welcome addition to the current retro-soul revival scene,” and stating the video “effectively captures the spirit of the group.” The video is the latest in a string of recent highlights for the band, led by siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence. Tonight, Lawrence headlines a sold-out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg before embarking on a summer tour that includes dates with Lake Street Dive and an appearance at Outside Lands. A full list of dates is below.

The 8-piece horn-driven ensemble is powered by head-turning lead vocals from Clyde and Gracie, who take turns belting out soulful songs rooted in Motown and R&B reminiscent of artists like Carole King, Hall & Oates, and Muscle Shoals. Lawrence formed in 2015 while students at Brown University, and the band retains the charm and unassuming demeanor of college student as demonstrated by their viral live video for “Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me,” which has accumulated over 400K views. Currently on tour in support of their debut album, Breakfast, Lawrence has garnered a significant live following, earning a performance spot at Hangout Music Festival, Bonnaroo, and Firefly Music Festival. The band has also completed several sold out shows in their New York City hometown and performed with Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and Busty The Bass, among others.
Before forming Lawrence, Clyde and Gracie grew up writing and playing music together as children on the Upper West Side. At age six, Clyde was admitted as the youngest member to the Songwriters Guild of America for his work on Miss Congeniality (2000) and has composed songs and scores for films such as Miss Congeniality (2000), Music and Lyrics (2007), The Rewrite (2015), and Hard Sell (2016). Gracie has performed in Did You Hear About The Morgans (2009), The Sitter (2011), The Good Wife (2012), and The Americans (2014), as well as Neil Simon’s Broadway production, Brighton Beach Memoirs.
