Spencer Burton Releases Brand New Album “Songs Of” Today 5/5 & Announces Series Of Intimate Shows For 2017

Spencer Burton’s anticipated new album, “Songs Of” is available everywhere today via vanguard Canadian indie label, Dine Alone Records.

“That’s actually a good way to describe my music,” shares Burton.  “I don’t want to do anything with my music, with my life; with anything that I do that doesn’t involve love. It all boils down to doing what I do because it makes me feel good.”

Recorded at The Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville with producer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Langhorne Slim), and session musicians who play with Margo Price and Daniel Romano, “Songs Of” is a record that is both authentic and focused.  Lyrically, the album covers an array of topics, seamlessly matching folk narratives against buoyant pop melodies set in a universal context.

A musical virtuoso, Burton’s gift is telling real stories, using everyday language and engaging audiences with purposeful artistic output. Fearlessly invested in the album, “Songs Of” features 11 original songs penned by Burton including the country-gospel weeper “Broken Hearts and Broken Chains” which premiered on CBC q last month, and by contrast, the uplifting and optimistic “Unmistakable Love” which saw its exclusive debut on The Strombo Show last Sunday 4/30.

Every song on this record is for someone else,” shares Burton. “Every song on this record is a gift to someone else. I wrote these songs for me, of course, but for the first time I wrote these songs about other people in my life, some of them for other people to help them through hard times.”

Spanning a musical life with hard core beginnings (Attack In Black), to the somber strings of his acoustic guitar in the realm of country-folk (Grey Kingdom) and collaborative years of writing and performing live in City and Colour, Burton is a mainstay musical wunderkind.

In support of “Songs Of”, Burton announced a series of tour dates in June as well as a stop at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival (July 8), with additional dates to be added soon.
