Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Thom: We have been good thank you. Been so so busy since the start of this year getting everything in place so it’s gone really fast.
Luis: We only got back from Belgium yesterday from being on tour so we are pretty shattered to be fair!!
Can you talk to us more about your single “The Story Doesn’t End Here”?
Thom: ‘The Story Doesn’t End Here’ is about the struggles in life we face and the battles in our every day lives but also the way we deal with things by putting our heads in the sand and ignoring situations but hoping for change! The positive message of the song is that no matter how hard times get it we can always start again and make a new beginning for ourselves!
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Thom: Not a particular event but my inspiration came to write the song and the whole EP really was the way most of us live our lives buy following a system that caters for greed, money and power and the corruption and crime that goes with it.
How was the filming experience?
Thom: The video was great to film. Went smooth a no hiccups which is strange!! Usually something has to go wrong!
Adam: Our director Josh was a class act to work with and felt he really put the atmosphere of the song into the video. We have yet to see the final version but we can’t wait!!
The single comes off your new album Wolf Machine – what’s the story behind the title?
Leo: Well basically the EP title ‘Wolf Machine’ is based on corruption, corporations and governments of the world. Wolf lending itself to the corrupt organisations and the machine being the subconscious feeling that it all runs a lot deeper than we think! The wolf machine is the thing that controls us and the world around us basically.
How was the recording and writing process?
Thom: Well we went and recorded in Manchester with David Rahdad-Jones at Red City Recordings. Was a long way to travel but he was who we wanted to make our record with. It was also nice to get far away from home and just get in the right mindset.
Leo: I know him from Heavens Basement and even Roadstar before that when he was the guitarist. I heard he was producing and had his own studio so it just felt right to take that direction. From the moment we walked through the door we knew it was. We worked for 6 days rearranging the songs and re writing parts. Then we would jam them out and see what worked. He pushed us and his input was so valuable to the record.
Thom: Writing something that we all believe in and the views we share politically was great as well. Gave us a real meaning to the record and a chance to speak our views on the mess of the world today.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
Thom: As we touched on before in this particular record it came from the corruption in corporations and the governments of the world. on top of that the unnecessary wars and killing every year of millions of innocent people, rigged elections and people still living in poverty should inspire anyone to speak up and take notice of what is going on.
Any plans to hit the road?
Adam: We have just come off the back off a tour in Belgium and we have shows lined up for the year now in UK. A tour in October is nearly locked in and we are still booking more and more shows throughout the year! We want to play as much as we can so we can see everybody and get ourselves out there. Plus we are hopefully heading back to Belgium for a festival in September. So this year is looking good!!
