Hi Ayrius, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been well.  Blessed.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Stay”?

Sure.  Stay is a record that creates resentment within me.  It was initiated during a very traumatizing moment in my life.  It’s sort of a release of tension from a previous phase of my life, that needed to be released; for me to reach where it is that I’m heading.  An interlude, if you will…

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Yeah.  My last relationship.  And the dark reality of it.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Definitely.  My production team (Love the Clinic) and I shot it at the very end of 2016 and we’ve been editing it ever since.  It’s going to be very innovative and evoking.

How was the recording and writing process?

I cried during the writing process.  Which is crazy, because I’m not the crying type.  And I showed up to the recording session drunk.  It was a tough reality to revisit.  I wanted to be numb, but still be able to release all the anger and pinned up aggression I had towards the situation.

What role does Houston plays in your music?

A big ass part!  I grew up on some of Houston’s finest gems.  My dad and older brothers listened to Fat Pat, H.A.W.K., UGK, Lil’ Flip, Z-Ro, SPM, Trae, Big Pokey, Big Moe, DJ Screw, and so many other while I was growing up.   But it was the Screw tapes that they brought home from the Screwed Up Records& Tapes Shop that taught me the essence of the Houston sound.  I find that my music slips people into a trance.  The purple city’s influence and sounds instilled that in me at a young age.  I’m just trying to carry the torch; but in my own way.

How Tupac music influence has influence your career?

Tupac taught me to be the savage I was born to be.  To fear no man, or any weapon that shall form against me.  Because not everyone is born with a voice; a real voice.  And those with one must everyday use it; no matter the hate we catch for it.  Because ironic as it may seem, true leaders are not only targets among society; but we are also the handlers of the bow & arrow.  Get it?

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I have so much content, but I’m all about perfect timing.  I will not be controlled by a system.  I do have plans of near future releases, but I like to release on a feeling; not a strategy from another’s expectations.  And if you must ask, there is a project that awaits the world’s calling.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Leaving that up to the people…

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes.  Stay tuned.  But right now, I’m just focused on getting the right content out, and out on the right platforms.

What else is happening next in AYRIUS’ world?

Expansion.  And for me that starts with the mind.  My world is a very broad one.  So, right now I’m enjoying getting my sound to people, so they will be able to understand what will visually come.
