INTERVIEW: Alt Rockers My Life On Film

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Very well, thank you!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Need to Know“?

“Need To Know” is the single off of our latest release and it’s definitely one of our more popular live songs. It is also the sound we’re focussing on for our upcoming releases.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

It was mixture of things going on in a few of our lives, not something specific. We usually all help out with lyrics.

How was the filming experience?

Filming was awesome. We did it at the church that Sean J works at.

How was the recording and writing process?

The recording process is always fun. We’re very close with our producer, Matt Weber out of Gradwell House, and we always have a good time with him. He actually helped with the pre production as well so he shaped the song to what it is today!

What role do Bayside and Jimmy Eat World play on your music?

These are the bands that we grew up listening to so they definitely pop up in our sound. Bayside’s guitar and Jimmy Eat World’s lyrics are something that will influence this scene for years.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, we’ll be in the studio some time in the late summer. We’re almost done with writing right now and we’ll be doing pre-production very soon.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Nothing yet. We don’t like to set too many deadlines just incase something comes up that postpones it.

Would this be a direct follow up to EP 1?

This will definitely be a newer sound for us. We want to push the envelope.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes! We’ll be on the road May 17th-May 20th for short run in Virginia and the Carolinas.

What else is happening next in My Life On Film’s world?

We’re all gearheads so we’re constantly acquiring new (to us) gear! Other than that, we’ll be in the studio this summer.
