Having already accumulated over 1.5 million Spotify streams, rising Irish artist Ailbhe Reddy returns with ‘Fingertips’ the lead single from her new EP, ‘Attach To Memory’ – released worldwide via AWAL/Kobalt on 24 May.
“This EP is an evolution of my first – ‘Hollowed Out Sea’, says Ailbhe. “Most of these new songs are more up-tempo which shows the fuller sound of my live shows.”
Influenced by the likes of Liane La Havas, Fiona Apple and Hundred Waters, Ailbhe continues to impress with a sublime EP built on solid song writing, intricate melodies, and addictive radio friendly hooks – best illustrated on the lead single, ‘Fingertips’. It’s her most upbeat track to date and perhaps her most frank – “Lyrically it focuses female sexuality, which is a topic I wanted to push forward and explore from a position of strength and confidence.”
Elsewhere there’s the confessional ‘Never Loved’ keeping the EP firmly within indie-folk, the electrifying ‘Disconnect’ and the exquisite ‘Loose’ – all illustrating why Ailbhe is heavily tipped for an international breakthrough this year.
Ailbhe has been making huge waves in her native Ireland, ever since a homemade demo of her song ‘Cover Me’ was used in a Today FM radio advert in 2014. Later that year her first single, ‘Flesh & Blood’ garnered excellent reviews and was featured as Song of the Day on Folk Radio UK. She went on to feature on almost every major Irish festival line up in 2016 including Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Hard Working Class Heroes, Knockanstockan and Spirit of Folk, whilst also releasing her debut EP ‘Hollowed Out Sea’
Earlier this year, Ailbhe released her single ‘Relent’ winning critical acclaim from the likes of Line of Best Fit and Wonderland Magazine who premiered the live video. She also recently performed a stunning set for Irish TV show Other Voices in Dingle, and had her music synced in the RTE TV drama Striking Out before performing sold out shows in Dublin, London and Toronto. She now has a full touring schedule lined up to promote her new EP across Ireland, UK, France and Germany including festival appearances at The Great Escape, Cambridge Folk Festival, Body & Soul and Electric Picnic.
Ailbhe’s new EP, ‘Attach to Memory’ is available from May 24th.
