Hello! Thank you for having us! We have been awesome thanks J
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “100 Years”?
Our single “100 Years” is about making the most of each moment we have, and living life to the fullest with the time that we’ve got.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
We’ve been doing a lot of touring around different parts of the world over the last few years, and we get a bit of time to reflect while we’re on the road. For me (Georgia), I just love that we get to pursue our passion, and I wanted to write a song that would encourage others to follow their dreams and do something positive with their lives. It’s also about acknowledging our friends, family, and people who inspire us throughout our journey.
How was the film experience?
Filming the music video for “100 Years” was an absolute blast. We wanted the video to showcase some of our favourite places to hang out, while doing some of our favourite things, with some of our favourite people. This video was shot on location at Pt Vincent and Stansbury on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, featuring the beautiful beaches we have grown up with. We had so much fun skateboarding, swimming, and jamming with our instruments on the beach. We also shot a party scene in our friend’s backyard at Middleton beach in South Australia. Nothing beats a chilled out atmosphere singing under the stars with your buddies. We’ve been blown away with the success of the video so far, and can’t wait for more videos to come!
How was the recording and writing process?
The idea for the song came to me (Georgia) on one of our tours, and as soon as I got back to Australia I recorded a basic demo in my home studio. Shortly after we headed off on a Europe Tour and as part of the next trip we took the song to one of our good friends Stuart Gray at Jealoustown Studios in Ireland, and were able to workshop and record the track professionally and come home with a near finished product. We were so excited to share this new sound with our fans.
What role does Australia plays in your music?
Australia is our home and we’ve loved growing up on a here on a remote bushland property. It’s very peaceful which makes for a great space to write songs; and with our neighbour’s property quite far away we can play our music pretty loud! We are surrounded by native wildlife, and even have pet kangaroos. It’s pretty special to be able to share Australia with our audiences overseas through our songs, stories, and social media.
The album comes from a limited EP – does this new material serve as a sneak peek to a bigger record? How’s that coming along?
Yes! We’re very excited to be working on an album, which will feature this new track and possibly a few from the EP.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
We’re hoping it will be good to go before the end of the year J
Would you be exploring and playing with other genres throughout the new stuff coming up?
We’ve been exploring with some more modern sounds, while still staying true to our earthy roots we grew up with. As always our harmonies are a big feature, and we’ve really made an effort to showcase the fact that we all play our own instruments. The new songs area also a lot more rock influenced which is exciting for our live shows.
Does your approach tends to change when you are performing an intimate show than when you are playing a big show?
Every show is just as important to us, whether it’s in an intimate setting or to a huge crowd. We love stripping it back to a more acoustic set up for our smaller shows (acoustic guitar, cello, small drums), and then rocking out at our big shows (electric guitar, bass, electric cello, drums). No matter what we try to make each show as special and memorable for our audiences.
Any plans to hit the road?
We’re excited to be playing at the Isle of Wight Festival in June on the Big Top Stage. The atmosphere at this huge festival is wild and we can’t wait to showcase some of our new tunes this year. We are also playing a show in the heart of London at Water Rats on June 2nd which should be great! After the UK we head over to Switzerland and Germany for about 6 weeks of shows.
What else is happening next in Germein Sisters’ world?
At the moment we’re pretty focused on preparing for our new record and showcasing snippets from it with as many people as possible. We’ve spent the first half of the year playing shows across the East Coast of Australia, and look forward to our upcoming UK and Europe shows!
