Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Love You Still“?
Kev – Yeah it’s a dreamy lil number and it’s about anxiety in a relationship. Them niggling questions in your head about a lovers past that you shouldn’t know but want to anyway.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Kev – Kind of but I like to think I’m exaggerating the subject.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Kev – Yeah I think a video should accompany every release but there isn’t actually one in the works just yet. It is getting pressed on to a sexy 7″ as we speak though.
How was the recording and writing process?
Kev – I wrote the song last year in my old flat and it came together quite quickly. One of them ones that just come along and you pluck it from the air as it floats past. The demo is a lot darker and I still have a weird connection to it.
What was it like to work with Alex Greaves and how did that relationship develop?
Kev – Ah we love Alex. I was just getting in to a band from Leeds called Colour Of Spring and noticed Alex on the recording credits. Then the same happened again with a few more cool bands so I decided to get in touch. He liked what we were doing so we booked some studio time, then just hit it off.
How much did he influence the song?
Kev – Quite a bit, we just rock up with an idea and he helps bring it to life.
What role does Newcastle plays in your music?
Kev – Well the songs were written here, about people here and experiences here so quite a big role in that light.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Kev – Yeah we’ve just received the master for the new single, it’s a banger!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Kev – I’d say the back end of May and the songs called Take Me Back.
What other aspect of anxiety would you be exploring on this new material?
Kev – We have another song that touches heavily on social anxiety, where you’re cancelling plans and don’t even want to leave the house. That one will be on an upcoming EP.
Would you keep diving into the 80s era on this new record?
Kev – Yes!
Any plans to hit the road?
Kev – Yes we plan to hit every road. See you soon.
What else is happening next in Seeing Hands’ world?
Kev – Love You Still will be out on record soon, new single will be out at the end of May and available on record in June, next will be an EP with a mixture of old and new and among all that hopefully getting about the country and playing some shows.
