Thanks for having me! I’ve been good, busy working on new music and about to shoot and release the official music video for my single ‘Air Pack Jet’!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Rude”?
I am really excited about ‘Rude’, it features the amazing Snoop Dogg! I can’t wait to shoot the music video for this one, which will be released in the summer.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The Cali vibes inspired it! I recorded the single in L.A with the producers at Trend Def Studios, it was a unique experience that really inspired my whole album, ‘The Edge’.
What was it like to work with Snoop Dog and how did he come on board?
Everyone kept mentioning Snoop would be great on the track, and since he’s one of my favorite artists, we made it happen. It was such a blessing to collaborate with Snoop on my single ‘Rude’. He and his team have been and are super professional!
The single comes off your new album The Edge – what’s the story behind the title?
To me ‘The Edge’ outlines my hard work and dedication throughout the production of the album. It’s been a tough but also extremely rewarding experience. I’ve been living and breathing on the edge, and I’m glad it took me this far.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording experience was a lot of fun! Lachi, Nick Nittoli, Mike Gonsolin and I banged out half the EP in a few grueling sessions, but still managed to have some good old Hollywood fun!
What role does NYC play in your music?
New York is a constant inspiration and push for my music, my style, and my way of living. I’ve always been fascinated and motivated by all the different taste this city has to offer when it comes to music, film, and fashion, and continues to inspire me.
Any plans to hit the road?
Definitely! After we put the finishing touches on the music videos for ‘Air Pack Jet’ and ‘Rude’, I will be branching outside of the NYC market.
What else is happening next in Kendra Black’s world?
I am officially in talks with a major Universal imprint for the distribution of ‘The Edge.’ This is going to be a very big step for me, and I feel so blessed for everything that is coming my way.
