Hello yeah we are good cheers busier than ever and liking working with the new record.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Don’t Waste My Time”?
“Don’t Waste My Time” is our debut single and the first song we ever wrote as a band. It took a lot of time to get the song to sound as good as we wanted, but eventually after long hours in the studio our hard work has paid off.
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
Yes, Lewis our lead singer was having troubles at his old work place and decided to put pen to paper as a way of expressing emotions. After taking this song to practice for the first time we instantly knew this was going to be our debut single yet there was a lot of developments to be made to the track as it was only a rough sketch at the time. I’d also say that I think this song drove the band forward to where we are now.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We have ideas to make a video for this single it’s just a case of getting the right people with experience to get the video to a standard that we would want, as we are very much perfectionists.
The single comes off your new album Number 6 – what’s the story behind the title?
Well firstly the band is called Record Street as the three Bannister brothers in the band grew up from a young age on Record Street and the majority of the music is put onto paper in the attic of number 6 Record Street so that is where the title of the album came from.
How was the recording and writing process?
Could be very difficult at times but as we have many things to write about from past experiences. It made the writing process a lot easier and enjoyable as we were writing but also at the same time reflecting on good memories.
How did Kings of Leon influence on the writing of this record?
Firstly Kings Of Leon are a family driven band just like Record Street , there music has always inspired us with their catchy riffs and fast tempos. I really couldn’t think of a band to aim to be as successful as.
Where did you find the inspiration for the song and lyrics?
Lewis was having some troubles at his old work place, He felt like he was being messed around so that’s where the lyrics “Don’t Waste My Time” come from. As a strong character these things didn’t really bother him but gave him the guidelines to write these lyrics. Basically it’s about rising above someone and not being looked down upon.
Any plans to hit the road?
We are waiting for the right opportunities to come along, maybe go on tour with other bands to get our name out there. But yeah we are ready to rise to any gigs, any tour, anywhere in the world to showcase our talent.
What else is happening next in Record Street’s world?
We have our biggest gig to date on the 9th of June at the o2 Ritz in Manchester. Then we are hoping to carry on getting these big gigs and getting our name out there, we also have 3 more tracks to release and we will have to see what happens with them… After this we are eager to get back into the studio to produce and write more amazing uplifting tunes.
