Hi Pharella, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey Hey, I’ve been great thank you! super busy but as I always like to say “don’t sleep through your dream, live the dream”

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Invitation”?

So Invitation will be my first release of any original music for 2017, which is really exciting for me, as i haven’t put anything out for nearly and year and half now!! Saying that I am also super nervous to share what i’ve been working on with everyone. I find it’s always daunting to put out something that is quite personal, I just hope people can relate and enjoy the vibe.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Of Course! LOL. There’s always a story behind the song with me, it’s quite funny actually how all my songs are based on real life experiences. Invitation was written after I was seeing this guy and I sort of didn’t know where we stood, as he only asked me out when it was convenient for him or he needed a plus one to events. So this is where the title “Invitation” comes in play. It’s happened to a few of my friends, so i think both Guys and Girls can relate to this one. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with respect and like a king or queen.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

At the moment there is no plans to release a video for this single, as its a soft release. So just something for people to listen to and chill. But there will be a lyric video and an acoustic version going up on youtube in a few weeks time!! So stay TUNED.

How was the recording and writing process?

Writing this song was like letting all my emotions out in one go. I remember sitting in one of the writing rooms over at Tileyard Studio’s with Chris Smith (The Producer) talking about the concept for an hour. After that the song just flowed from the brain to paper and we had the lyrics and basic idea finished within 2 hours. Which was great, cause sometimes it can take a while to find inspiration but this was not that case for Invitation.

What was it like to work with Chris Smith and how has he been influence your music?

Chris Smith is one of the nicest producers and such a genuine guy, which is really hard to find in the industry we are in. I loved working with him and this is the first of many to come. I usually go in to sessions with an idea and its usually for an uptempo summer vibe  but Chris really encouraged me to just go with what i was feeling that day and took me out of my comfort zone to create this mid tempo – slow track, which I never thought i would do. But now i want to do more!!

How’s your new EP coming along?

The EP is finally coming together, it has been a long process but I feel I have truly developed not only as an artist but as a person during the making of it. I have such a great team around me and the people i’m working with are amazingly talented so i’m really excited about whats being created. I’m a bit of a perfectionist though so i need to learn to not over kill the track by going back in for the slightest details lol.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I still have a long way to go so I can’t promise a day for release but i’m hoping it will be ready for 2018! At the moment there’s no title in mind, i had a few but i’m sooo indecisive. Im sure when the right one comes along it’ll feel right and ill stick with it.

Any plans to hit the road?

I want to wait till i’ve dropped the EP before hitting the road, but I will be performing around London this summer and doing acoustic showcases, which will include some of the songs from the fourth coming EP!! So i’m really looking forward to that, as i feel like I’ve been in hibernation for the last year writing away.

What else is happening next in Pharella’s world?

That’s a tough one to answer, as no one knows whats around the corner. All i’m going to say is, I’m working on a few cool projects at the moment in addition to my solo stuff, there will be some collaborations dropping soon.
