Wax Motif Releases New Single & Official Music Video “Used 2 Be” Ft. Jevon Doe via HITS HARD

With musical influences like R&B, disco and UK bass, Australian-born DJ/producer WAX MOTIF brings a unique style to the studio, making him a highly sought after artist. Today (April 21), WAX MOTIF releases his new single, along with the official music video for “Used 2 Be” featuring Houston rapper Jevon Doe on the boutique label HITS HARD. The single is an upbeat yet smooth, dance-floor anthem, while the video–created by Shinosm and Sean Garrison–is a bright visual filled with LEDs and buildings created as an ode to flashy Tokyo culture.

WAX MOTIF first came across Jevon Doe via a track on his Spotify–which eventually blossomed into a symbiotic collaboration. I reached out to my publisher and she happened to know his team at Atlantic Records; so we started doing a bunch of sessions,” says WAX MOTIF. “We’ve been working on stuff for his project and also for mine, so look out for more to come between us in the future.”

Given his major plays at HARD festivals, including a HARD Summer official after party at The Fox Pomona that brought WAX MOTIF, DESTRUCTO, Salva, Anna Lunoe, and Mija all together for an industrious b2b2b2b2b, and special appearances–most recently at DESTRUCTO‘s Renegade EP Release Party at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles (4/6)–it isn’t much of a surprise to find that WAX MOTIF is one of the first artists outside of DESTRUCTO to release singles off his HITS HARD label.

WAX MOTIF has also released tracks via Diplo’s Mad Decent, A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold and Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak labels as well as created a host of remixes for the likes of YG, Kid Ink, Chromeo, deadmau5 and Warren G. His work on DESTRUCTO‘s West Coast album (Interscope) and RENEGADE EP (HITS HARD) includes the likes of Ty Dolla Sign, YG, Pusha T & Starrah, Freddie Gibbs, Problem and Kurupt.

The rest of the year has WAX MOTIF touring across the nation at major festivals, including: Bass Camp Festival (7/22-23), Wet Electric (4/29), Sunset Music Festival (5/27), Electric Forest (6/29), Paradiso (6/23), Lollapalooza (8/6) and Electric Zoo (9/1-3). Look out for new music from WAX MOTIF who’s currently working on projects for release later this year.
