Joe Bermudez, the DJ phenomenon who has opened for Madonna and David Guetta and is world renowned for his Britney Spears and Rihanna remixes, is releasing “Ghosting,” the first original single from his upcoming album, 2779 Miles To Go. Check it out now at https://youtu.be/ETQ4NIiL6lY. Written by Joe and his friend, Vincent Prezioso, and inspired by true-life situations, the track is a mix of pop and dance with a rock influence: Joe’s signature sound. “I learned a lot about songwriting from my last album,” Joe explains, admitting that before New Ginza At Night, he didn’t pay close attention to a song’s lyrics. “I definitely did on 2779, though. The lyrics have improved immensely on this batch.” Joe Bermudez’s “Ghosting” featuring Megn, an artist best known for competing on MTV’s Making the Band, is being released through 617 Records via Symphonic Distribution. The original and its remixes by Etto and Sam Halabi is available on iTunes now.
Joe says that when writing the lyrics to “Ghosting,” he and Prezioso pulled from their own lives. “I had been seeing a girl and everything was going great,” he recalls. “Then one day, poof, she disappeared! To this day, I’m not sure what happened. She just stopped answering my texts.”
He channeled his anger into the song’s lyrics. “Ghosting” follows “Skitzo,” a single Joe released last month about an insane girl. Featuring the vocals of rocker April Efff, it, too, was inspired by Joe’s colorful dating life. “These are all things that are happening to me, my friends and everyone else so it makes sense to write about them,” he explains.
He says he had been looking for the right vehicle to work on with Megn. “We’ve been friends for years and have wanted to work together. ‘Ghosting’ was the perfect fit for her voice so we decided to give it a shot.”
Joe purposely chose to incorporate as many live instruments as he could into the production. “I’m a huge fan of organic sounds. Guitars and pianos have been around forever so I feel like they help keep my songs from sounding dated.”
He tapped producers Etto and Sam Halabi to remix “Ghosting” and credits both with making the track impossible to not dance along with. “Etto did an amazing job giving the song a cool tropical vibe. I love the saxophone! It sounds like Kungs on steroids. Sam Halabi gives the song a classic 90’s house vibe that I also love. His uplifting piano stabs and vocal chops are awesome.”
Joe Bermudez got his start in music as a jockey for a rhythmic dance station in Maine, playing the kind of radio-friendly anthems that have become his staple. Eventually, he took his sound to clubs and festivals, quickly becoming one of the hottest talents on the global party scene.
Noted for his seamless sets, pitch perfect productions and willingness to play the music crowds want to hear, Joe Bermudez has consistently been named one of the Top DJs in the country by DJ Times Magazine, and has been nominated for multiple IDMA’s for Best Radio Mix Show DJ. Improper Bostonian named him the Boston’s Best DJ for 2016 and he was nominated Best Producer at last year’s Boston Music Awards. All the while, he has continued to churn out remixes and productions for a long list of major label artists.
Last year, Joe released his first album of original productions, New Ginza At Night. It featured ’90s house and pop-club crossover tunes that all received major club play throughout the world. “Sunrise” knocked Rihanna out of the top spot on the Billboard Dance Club chart and ended the year being named one of Billboard’s Top 20 Club songs for 2016.
“I’m excited for fans to hear the new album,” says Joe. “Ghosting is a fun spring release and the perfect appetizer for what’s next to come.”
