JKA Entertainment Presents an Intimate Concert: The Jacksons A Celebration of 50 Years

The Jacksons, quite possibly the most recognizable family in music history, are celebrating 50 years at REBEL on Friday June 9, 2017.

Fans in and Toronto and Montreal (l’Olympia on Sunday June 11, 2017) will witness one of the greatest pop and Motown super groups in the history of music. This Celebration, which hits Canada first, will treat fans to the classic Jackson 5 and Jacksons hits.

The iconic Motown group was recently announced as part of the Glastonbury 2017 lineup where they will be playing alongside headliners; Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran.

The brothers, from Gary, Indiana, became one of the biggest and most popular pop groups in the history of music. Their combination of extraordinary musical talent and choreography has earned the family the status of pop royalty in the music world and was later responsible for providing the launching pad for Michael Jackson’s legendary solo career.

With the songs: “I Want You Back“, “ABC“, “The Love You Save” and “I’ll Be There“, the Jackson 5 made history in 1970 as the first recording act whose first four singles reached No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They ultimately scored 17 top forty singles on the Hot 100, following with hits such as “Never Can Say Goodbye” and “Dancing Machine”.

In 1983, the band, along with Jermaine performed on Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever and subsequently released the Victory album the following year.

The group can be said to find many of its music inspirations in groups like The Temptations, The Supremes, James Brown, and Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, and came to eventually serve as the inspiration for several generations of boy bands, including Backstreet Boys, New Edition, N*SYNC, New Kids on the Block, and of more recent vintage, the Jonas Brothers, One Direction, and many more.

The Jacksons are inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, have five #1 albums, 18 #1 hits, 17 top 10 albums, 17 top 40 singles. In 1980, the Hollywood Walk of Fame honored the Jacksons with a star. They were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999 as The Jackson 5. Listed among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll” are two of the group’s songs (“ABC” and “I Want You Back”) with “I Want You Back” also included in the Grammy Hall of Fame. At the annual BMI Urban Awards on September 8, 2008, The Jacksons were honoured as BMI Icons.
