Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Spike’s Groove”?
I am so excited to have this released for the world to hear! I love this tune; it’s one of my favorites on the upcoming EP and one of my few love songs.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
My guitar player Derek Toa and I were writing one day and he was throwing chord ideas my way, and the second he played the chords that became “Spike’s Groove,” I was like “yes jackpot!!!!” I love the jazzy-romantic vibe anid it inspired me to then write about the flow of love in a relationship.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
The video was just released on Monday. This is our second music video and a much different vibe than the first so I’ve been anxious to get it out. I want the world to see all the sides to my art.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process for this song was slow, we took our time to develop it. At first we played this song acoustic and it didn’t have the big bridge part. But eventually we started playing it with the band and the whole thing really came together. Recording was EPIC. Not only did I get to work with some of Nashville’s finest musicians, but in some of Nashville’s finest studios.
What role does Nashville plays in your music?
Nashville has the best songwriters and musicians in the world. That’s why I moved here: to learn and soak it all in. It’s a sink or swim business and it taught me how to ride the wave.
How’s your new EP coming along?
It was a lot of work and a long time coming, but I’m so happy to say that it’s DONE!!!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
This is my first record and displays an eclectic blend of songs I’ve written over the years, so it’s self-titled.The EP will be officially released on May 19th and we are doing a huge party/show at Exit/In on May 20th to really promote in Nashville.
What other layers of soul would you be exploring throughout the record and would you get to play with other styles?
This record has soul in every song but the vibe is always switching up: from funk, rock, blues, latin, jazz, pop, to alternative.
Any plans to hit the road?
That’s my plan for life: I want to serenade the world. We are still locking down details for an EP promotion tour, but it’s in the works.
What else is happening next in Stelle Amor’s world?
We are already working up material for our next record! We also recently cut two songs live to tape and will have those out ASAP. So the future is looking beautiful and full of new music.
