Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Chris – All good, guys. Very busy getting ready for our record release. It’s been a fun but challenging 6 months.
Can you talk to us more about your song “Let It All Go”?
Julien – Well I think it was the first track of the EP we wrote. It kinda came from a little guitar part I had written but didn’t quite know where it would fit. Beau heard me messing about with it and we went from there.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Scott – Not particularly. It’s more of a look at desire and how it can affect you as a person. The whole EP looks at desire and the lengths people will go to get what they want from a few different aspects.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Beau – Actually yes. We have a video for ‘Keep Telling Me Lies’ which is being edited. We’ll be releasing that before the record release.
The single comes off your new album Deception – what’s the story behind the title?
Scott – Like I mentioned before: the whole EP explores the lengths people will go to to get what they want. Deception was a common theme for all of the songs so it was a fitting choice for the title of the EP.
How was the recording and writing process?
Julien- I enjoyed getting a bit more riff based and a little heavier. It makes it interesting to play in our set when it changes up a bit.
Chris – Amazing! We have done a lot of shows in 2016, and took time off to write this record. We went up to York to record with the Graves Brothers. They’re the guys who worked with Asking Alexandria on their last record. We went into it totally blind to their methods, but those guys are at the top of their game. We had such a great experience.
Beau – It was great fun being away in York to record. It was actually really important for us to reconnect as friends and a band again. When you spend 6 month writing songs it’s possible to lose sight of the fact that being in a band is supposed to be fun.
What aspect of ‘Deception’ did you get to explore on this album?
Scott – I think we got to explore quite a few aspects of deception as a theme. It was good to explore it from the points of view of two antagonists and a victim.
Any plans to hit the road?
Chris – Yes! We have a tour planned in July and August which we haven’t announced officially yet.
What else is happening in the Scout KIllers world?
Chris – Next is a warm up show in Trowbridge, our sunny hometown. We’re also thinking about finishing a couple of half written songs which we might record later in the year.
Hi Sal, welcome to VENTS! How have you been? Hey RJ! Not bad at all, …
