INTERVIEW: Dan Crossley

Hi Dan, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey guys! I’ve been good, you?

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Nothing But Love”?

Sure.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

It wasn’t necessarily a particular event that inspired me to write it, more of collusion of thoughts. Everything going on in the world today being so negative I wanted to write an uplifting song that people could listen to and be happy.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

They’re are plans to, yeah and I can’t wait!

How was the recording and writing process?

To be honest the recording and writing was kinda simple. I had been in the studio for most of the week with my two friends Alex E and Bayku who I write and record with a lot. Alex started cooking up the beat and we just vibed from there. The song was written in 2 hours.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I’m back in the studio real soon working on some fresh music. Iv also been meeting some producers and writers from the states getting some ideas together and enjoying the collaborations projects.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

May 19th is when my full EP drops. I can’t wait to have a fully polished piece of work out there for people to hear.

What emotions would you be exploring throughout this new record?

I wrote and recorded my EP last summer. And although the songs don’t all sound like ‘Nothing But Love’, I still get a strong summer vibe from the instrumentation of the music. Which is great, it takes me back to a great time in my life! (And I LOVE summer, haha)

Any plans to hit the road?

It would so great to get on the road and meet all the people that support my music. Right now I’m just looking for ways we can do that. Maybe a collaborative tour? Or even a support slot on a tour would be great!

What else is happening next in Dan Crossley’s world?

The next stages really do depend on how the EP goes down. Things can change so quickly in this industry that it’s hard to say. But I know I’m going to be back in the studio, putting my heart on tracks and just writing and performing from an honest place.

EP is coming out on May 19. Listen here the first single
