Angelica Garcia Announces Additional Live Dates for Spring 2017

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Angelica Garcia is heading back out on the road this spring, kicking things off tonight in Anaheim at the first-ever School Night in Orange County hosted by KCRW’s Chris Douridas. This spring tour will include stops in Philadelphia, New York, Richmond, and Washington, D.C., where Angelica has been selected as a featured performer for Record Store Day 2017. See below for a full list of dates. Alongside the additional live dates, Angelica has shared a powerful new track, “Not A Pipeline,” a reflection on the recent political unrest surrounding the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Listen/Share “Not A Pipeline”

The 22-year old Richmond-based songstress was born in Los Angeles, but moved to Accomac, VA as a teen when her stepfather traded a career in the music industry for the Episcopalian priesthood. Garcia’s family lived in a 200-year-old gothic brick home encircled by magnolia trees. Isolated and alone, Garcia locked herself in the parish house and fashioned a musical world that veers between ghostly gorgeous countrified blues and sly swamp Americana. With a childlike whimsy, quirky sense of humor, and dynamic delivery, it could easily soundtrack an apparitions’ ball in some Faulknerian mansion.

Medicine for Birds was recorded by Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars, Switchfoot) in Nashville. “It’s like the songs grew up at that moment,” Garcia says. “Charlie showed me how big and crazy they could be. I felt like a hermit coming out. He was the ambassador to this sonic realm I didn’t know about it. The music became limitless.”
