Pete Lynch shares arena-ready, alt-rock single

Alt-rock artist Pete Lynch, who splits his time between the US and Europe, will be releasing his new sophomore album Kill the Monster on May 19th. Today, you can hear the first single “Till The Rivers Run Dry” (originally premiering with Surviving The Golden Age. The big chorus crashes in with a catchy, arena-ready hook that was inspired by a six-week, 5000-mile road trip across America.

Driving through Virginia, seeing places I hadn’t seen for many years, the melody and the first line of the song (‘You had a heart out of gold, loved the stories you told..’) were suddenly stuck in my mind,” says Lynch. “As soon as I reached a motel, I began writing the song, which progressed state by state. My impressions and the beauty of the countryside were very inspiring. After I’d completed the lyrics, I realized how emotional and personal they were, and I knew I’d never written a tune like this one before. What makes ‘Till the Rivers Run Dry’ special to me is the person it’s about, its honesty, the atmosphere of the song and its optimistic message.

The track and album were mixed by Tim Palmer (known for his work with Pearl Jam, Blue October, Ozzy and many more), who says the song is a “smash hit.” Kill The Monster is a follow-up to Pete’s debut album Face Me! and explores different creative avenues, experimenting with different keys and tempos and using a variety of electronic elements. “I had a very clear vision of how I wanted the record to sound. I had played some of the songs live, so I had a better understanding of the way people react to the new songs,” says Lynch.

Kill The Monster will be out on all digital retailers May 19th.
