Thank you for contacting me, I’m great thank you and hope you are the same!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Reach You”?
I wrote “Reach You” exactly one year ago (and after getting this produced) it was finally released on the 19th March 2017. It’s all about the power of the unspoken word and understanding each other from the soul… it is that deep level of undeniable love which one can not escape, nor in many cases, do anything about – and as the video shows, it is a love tragedy…
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I wrote “Reach You” after a very powerful experience where I felt a complete connection with another being – it was electric and frightening!
How was the film experience?
The filming of “Reach You” was one of the best experiences of my life: I was finally (visually) acting out my emotion. It felt very raw but at the same time very satisfying… The video itself was incredibly powerful and felt very real – it was wonderful and everything that I’d hoped it could be! Getting on to the Church Tower was amazing and with the use of drones to capture the vast space around us was magical!
The single comes off your new EP “Closure” – what’s the story behind the title?
“Reach You” is one of four songs on my EP “Closure” and marks an episode in my life that is now complete and therefore I’m ready to move forward.
How was the recording and writing process?
When I first put pen to paper with “Reach You”, I had no idea what I wanted to say, only an emotion that would not go away… I sat at the piano and the music flowed… my words fell into place. This soothed my emotional need. Once I had completed the song, I then met with my producer and we started to bring this story to life. I knew it has to be dramatic and drew in every element of my emotion to recreate this feeling.
What role does Tori Amos play on your music?
Tori Amos is a true inspiration to me. Her emotion is always paramount in her playing and her words. It is the sincerity in her voice that I draw from and relate to most.
What is is about the 70s and 80s that you find so fascinating?
James Bond! Haha… Where love and lust go hand in hand being accompanied by the sensual and powerful theme tunes… I also love the jazz at that time, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire… They all do it for me!
With what things did you come to a closure on this record?
The closure in “Reach You” was that I knew I has to let go in order to move on.
Any plans to hit the road?
I just hope people will love what they hear and if so, I will keep on writing, hit the road, or anything else that is required!
