Great thank you been doing a few gigs here and there and recording also so trying to balance out working and doing my music.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single Lasso?
Lasso was my first song to ever be played on radio by BBC introducing Berkshire and was recently played on BBC Radio 2 , which both meant the absolute world to me and was also the first and only song I’ve ever done a music video of.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
This song is about a previous relationship I had on and off for many years and it’s all about me trying to save it each time but deep down I knew it wouldn’t last.
How was the film experience?
It was amazing we filmed in Ashdown forest near Brighton in August 2015 typical English summer, it was so cold but we had so much fun shooting it. Everyone especially enjoyed it when we had lunch in McDonalds and there I was in this crazy black dress and glitter and gems all over my face…it was quite a sight I don’t think McDonalds knew what hit them.
The single comes off your debut EP Silly Business what’s the story behind the title?
Its actually about the same relationship I had when I wrote lasso I wrote silly business at my first year at university and it’s all about feeling lost and losing yourself in a relationship that’s not right for you but you don’t know how to let go as its safe and familiar.
How was the recording and writing process?
Very very creative I don’t think I’ve ever been this creative. It was a great experience recording what I’ve written, as I’ve never really had the chance to do it before. Things changed along the way to what I had in my head but all for the better and I’m enjoying the journey.
What role does Berkshire play on this E.P?
I guess it plays quite a big role for me as its the transition of a small town girl moving to the city. Berkshire is the county of where my hometown of Thatcham is and always in my heart but the E.P is all about my transitions and how I’ve changed as some of the songs were written years ago and in the present.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and the lyrics?
Mostly through the previous relationship I had but Haunt is the only song I wrote for me and anybody else who can relate to it, it’s all about fighting your demons and telling yourself not to give up.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yea I’ll be hitting loads of places this summer. I’m supporting Jesse Lawson in Manchester April 2nd, then I’m back in London playing Surya April 22nd, New Cross Inn May 7th and Notting Hill Arts Club May 17th.
I will be performing at a few festivals this year also. I will be playing BBC Radio 2’a Carfest, Lechlade, Royal Henley Regatta, Wellowfest, Priory Live, Henley Festival, Godiva and maybe a few more.
What else is happening next in Cecil’s world?
