COLD WAR KIDS RELEASE ACOUSTIC SESSION OF THEIR DUET WITH BISHOP BRIGGS, “SO TIED UP”

Cold War Kids release their new track “So Tied Up” (Los Feliz Blvd) FT. Bishop Briggs today- check out the live acoustic studio session video featuring Nathan Willett and Bishop Briggs HERE.

“Pulling this session together was something of a miracle,” says Willett.  “We were between tours and I hadn’t actually met Bishop in person and the band hadn’t worked out any arrangement. We had like 2 hours. Luckily Bishop was so confident and her voice is perfection; the voice of a woman twice her age, so raw and sophisticated … I sorta laid in the cut and watched her explode. This is as fun as it gets – working so loose in a pinch, everybody flexible and down to mess around – and the greatest moments happen. By evening the strings capped off what is now one of my favorite CWK recordings.”

“(Briggs’) voice spars beautifully with that of CWK frontman Nathan Willett…” says Consequence of Sound.  “What’s perhaps most fascinating is watching the pair talk through the arrangement, each offering and taking advice.”

Those who pre-order the album will receive instant downloads of the first single, “Love is Mystical,” “Can We Hang On?,”  plus the studio version of “So Tied Up” Ft. Bishop Briggs in addition to special limited edition bundles which include signed albums available here.

The band is currently on a North American headline tour and will also join Young The Giant on the “Home of the Strange Tour,” beginning August 2nd in Louisville, KY. The run will include a performance at Central Park SummerStage and continue on through the end of September. Full itinerary and tickets for all shows are available at coldwarkids.com.

LA Divine, Cold War Kids’ most expansive and ambitious effort so far, pays tribute to Los Angeles in all its strange glory, embodying the Long Beach-bred band’s endless fascination with their adopted hometown. “In many ways, LA is the least divine city, the most hedonistic and irreverent and disconnected from history,” says Willett. “LA’s so massive, I feel like I’m always finding something new in it,” adds bassist Matt Maust. “It’s an incredibly weird place, and I’m happy to have made an album that totally honors that weirdness.”  Formed in 2004 in Fullerton, CA, Cold War Kids are Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz, and David Quon.
