PREMIERE: Ish D Releases New Music Video For “Holding Aces (ft. LakieDay)”

Moving away from the fast pace hip hop of Terrence Spectacle, this time we are going for something rather fun and minimalistic. Ish D’s new video for “Holding Aces” dives between the water of 90s R&B a la TLC to modern EDM music. The video follows the same line of the song by being somewhat entertaining yet no pretentious by any means. Watch the exclusive premiere below and also catch the interview below where we get to learn more about the song and what’s coming next from this upcoming star.

Hi Ish, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Ive been well!!! Just working on more new tunes!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Holding Aces”?

Holding aces actually started out as a remix for me, my good friend and co- write on the song Lakei Day had a completely different song at the time. Now fun fact for me I’ve always made electronic music kind of on the side, but lately I had been listening to a lot of late 80’s early 90’s house records and it made me realize how much soul was still in them. So I took a bit of those element and some 2017 Sonic’s to make it more exciting. It’s a love song so I wanted that energy to translate, loves an exciting thing.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

Well my friend Lakie Day was in the honeymoon stage in her relationship and we just tried to translate that love at first site, deep love for someone into something people could dance to.

But the fun thing in the song is the double entendre. love is a gamble.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes! A full-blown dance video. Fully Choreographed by KatherineIheke

How was the recording and writing process?

It was pretty simple actually; I actually work in a recording studio Alpha & Omega here in Fort Worth. I practically live here so I’m always telling my close collaborators to “Pull Up”, and we’re always locking in trying to crank out ideas!

What was it like to work with LakieDay and how did that relationship develop?

Well I met Lakie back in 2011 I believe, her then boyfriend was a rapper and I produced his first project, she and I always got along and apparently they forgot to tell me that Lakeshia could sing! Until one day she had randomly sent me a demo. I fell in love with it; we always said we would work together. And here we are!

What did she bring up to the table?

Lol, pretty much the meat of the song, the concept as well as the writing!

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes! Most certainly, I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with some of the best singers here in Dallas, and have finished my debut EP. If you like Holding Ace’s you’ll love the songs that accompany it.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Hopefully mid spring/early summer sometime!!!!

Any plans to hit the road?

Trying to make my way to the UK, there’s a few acts I’d love to lock into the studio with

What else is happening next in Ish D’s world?

Working with lots of new artist breaking acts is something I enjoy doing.

Look out for this guy name Terrence Spectacle!
