Becca Stevens releases video for ‘Well Loved’ ft. Laura Mvula

Becca Stevens has released the stunning video for ‘Well Loved’, a standout track from her new album Regina (out March 24th on GroundUP Music) which features Laura Mvula. ‘Well Loved’ was inspired by The Pillow Book by Sei Shōnagon, and the video – which features Stevens dancing amid broken glass that reforms at the very end – represents an understanding that in order to be loved by others we must first love ourselves.

The song premiered on BrooklynVegan who compliment Stevens and Mvula saying, “they sound great together. Becca’s folky style and soaring voice blends gorgeously with Laura’s more soulful, chilled-out sound.”

Regina, her first release on GroundUP Music, also marks the first time Becca has recorded solely under her own name, instead of as the Becca Stevens Band. Produced by Troy Miller, Regina features creative and performance collaborations with Snarky Puppy’s Michael League, Jacob Collier, Laura Mvula, and David Crosby.

Becca has reinvented herself once again with Regina. Her style has always evaded categorisation, and on Regina you hear pop, rock, R&B and funk side-by-side with traditional Appalachian and British folk, classical, world music, and jazz. Intricate instrumentation and rhythms seamlessly intertwine with vocals and melodies that draw you in and stay with you.

Stevens will be touring across the globe in 2017, which includes a performance with Snarky Puppy at Brixton Academy on May 5th.
