Rising pop artist Finn Matthews has premiered the video for his new track “I Wrote A Love Song” via Paste. CLICK HERE TO WATCH. The emotional ballad is Finn’s second career single, preceded by teen anthem “Half Hearted,” which was released earlier this month. “I Wrote A Love Song” showcases a new side of Finn’s artistry – he leaves all of his emotions on the piano and uses his raw, soul-baring lyrics as a cathartic way to cope with the inevitable heartbreak of young love.
“I Wrote a Love Song” is about reflecting on a relationship and in the end trying to work it out, even if it may seem impossible at first” states Finn. “It’s about staying positive through the highs and the lows. It is important to be able to reflect on things and be honest with yourself and others, rather than running away from any problems.”
“I Wrote A Love Song” was recently released exclusively for the Amazon Music Original playlist Love Me Not for Valentine’s Day. Together, Love Me Not and Love Me offered 74 new recordings to help embrace love in the air or alternately, ease the pain of heartbreak during this Valentine’s season. The playlists feature original songs and covers from Ingrid Michaelson, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Chris Lane, Okkervil River and more. They are now available for streaming exclusively on both Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music.
Finn has found a mentor in Elijah Blake, who has penned hits such as Usher’s “Climax”, Rihanna’s “No Love Allowed.” As fate would have it, they instantly connected after happening to meet one day in a recording studio. “Every generation has their own superstar that acts as a time stamp for young love and youthful memories in song form,” states Elijah of his protégé. “I truly feel that Finn possesses the kind of star power to be “it” for the new phase in music culture that’s happening now.”
In 2016, Live Nation took notice of Finn and have partnered with him to help launch his career. “We are extremely excited about Live Nation’s partnership with Finn and helping him develop as an artist” exclaimed Steve Herman, SVP of Touring at Live Nation. “He is an immense talent and we are thrilled to be part of his journey.”
