Hi Denny, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I’ve been well, thanks! These last few months I’ve been barricaded in my studio finishing up my next releases, and preparing for my live show.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Traces”?
Of course, “Traces” is a simple narrative about someone who left a lasting mark on me. As a producer, it also pushed me more than any other of my past records. One reason being that I had to create it twice. Long story short, the original session crashed, deleting all the work & time I had put into it, stubbornly I wanted to scrap it, but knew it was an important song for me and needed to re-create it from the ground up. As a result, it really made me re-focus & explore new ideas in the re-producing stages. In the end, it took on a new life as a hybrid of both the original and new idea.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I was more influenced by my surroundings with this one. It was written in an old barn out in Eastern Washington, the huge wooden space and open doors of the building informed all my sounds, and melodies.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
There’s been talks, but nothing set in stone yet.
How was the recording and writing process?
Long and tedious, but very rewarding.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
It’s coming along well, I just got back the master of my next single, and can’t wait to share it within the next few weeks.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Mid – March! Still need to lock in the title, I’ve been extremely indecisive sticking with one.
Would all the songs deal with relationships?
They’ll play a big role, but not be limited to only that theme.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes, there’s talks in the works of hitting the road this Summer!
