Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Oh hi VENTS! Pretty good, tried to play football the other day and hurt my back like an old man so… maybe I’ll stick to the guitars.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “B.A.D.”?

B.A.D is our debut single, we are super brand new. We’ve only just put it up on the world wide web for the other 7 billion or so people on planet earth to hear. Hopefully it will make some people jump around and forget about that floppy carpet haired dick swap running America currently. Sorry got carried there…

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

The song is about hopefully something we can all relate to.. when you like someone, they like you back, you screw it up and leave it too long, they decide you’ve missed your chance, and now they are apathetic about the whole situation whilst you are suddenly insanely over the top in love with them and can’t understand why you didn’t grab your chance in the first place! This may or may not have happened to me like, 5 billion times when I was younger.

How was the film experience?

Well, we have no money so we decided to just stick a camera on me up against a white wall, do 3 takes of the track, then try and screw the whole video up as much as possible. So we did it all ourselves in like 2 hours. DIY FOREVER!

How was the recording and writing process?

Pretty similar to the video really… i find i either write a song in 5 minutes or never at all. Sometimes I have a riff from ages ago that suddenly fits into some new chorus I have and boom theres a tune. This one was one of those 5 minute jobbys where everything just flowed out of me. I like them ones the best. For recording we went down to Brighton and my pal Steven Ansell recorded us in a rehearsal room. Again, super DIY. But it captures the energy and sounds great.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

We’ve got 4 tunes down so far, so there’s definitely more on the way very soon.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I wanna have the next one out in 6 weeks or so, so watch this space 😉

Any plans to hit the road?

If possible, hell yeah. We’re just getting everything in place right now, then we’ll be smashing the gigs as much as possible. This kind of music begs to be played and seen in a sweaty dive club, so hopefully that’s exactly what we’ll do.

What else is happening next in Beach Riot’s world?

Record another video – write more songs – play lots of gigs – drink too much – repeat.
