Can you talk to us more about your latest single “End of Time”?
It’s really a simple love song. A non cynical statement. Whatever happens. Wherever life takes us. I will always love you till the end.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
Yes, just unadulterated love for someone. I’m very grateful to have someone in my life who believes in me, she deserves everything.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
We’d love to. We know we have to but just trying to find the right director.
The single comes off your new self-titled album – why naming the record after the band?
Ha!! Because we liked the album cover with just the band name on it!! So we thought we’d better call it army of bones!
What was it like to work with Gethin Pearson and how did that relationship develop?
We met Geth out of the blue. A chance meeting. We liked him instantly. His energy was vital to us as there are a few producers in the band already. He helped shape the songs and give it the tone that it has. He also brought a great engineer Dan Austin who shaped the sonics too.
How much did he influence the album?
Geth def brought the sonic direction.
What aspect of love and unity did you get to explore on this material?
I think you can hear the thread of abandonment running through the lyrics. I’ve been very grateful to find a wife who is my partner in crime so to speak but still you have your bumps in the road and the realisation that love is fragile. This record is not about the break up of relationship but endeavouring to stay together
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes we have some dates in Australia and then a UK tour in May.
What else is happening next in Army of Bones’s world?
The record comes out on March 2nd. Then time will decide how great this music is but I have a feeling we are built to play big venues with these songs. They are intimate and stadium like all at god same time.
