Over the last few months, NYC singer/songwriter/producer SHEARE hypnotized us with his sunny capri-sun pop singles, and has returned with a brand new song “L E V I T A T E” – LISTEN HERE via Ones to Watch. The track is the first from SHEARE’sdebut EP, TURBULENCE, which will be released in May 2017. The songs on the EP mark a sonic turn for the artist – from songs you want to blast while driving with the windows down, to a darker, more melancholy tone.
SHEARE (Brandon Sheer) wrote, recorded and produced the five songs on the EP in his home studio in Brooklyn, NY during a dark and cold January. In what he calls the “Post-Holiday Blues” period, he locked himself in his apartment, and created the songs in a matter of weeks. Thematically, the EP explores the experience of a long-term relationship ending, and running away from those feelings of loss until they inevitably catch up with you. The process of creating the songs was a catharsis for SHEARE – releasing all of the hidden feelings from the relationship and confronting them.
Using the same precision to craft his songs as a couture designer approaches their craft, SHEARE singularly writes, records and produces his glistening, hook-laden gems. Borrowing influences from the present and past both musically and in his own style, he remains relentless honest underneath the pop sheen.
SHEARE will perform at Annie O’s Music Series at The Standard Hotel, East Village Penthouse on Monday, February 20. CLICK HERE for more information.
