Kicking another short but interesting premiere week, we got VENTS alumni and Texas darling Jane Ellen Bryant who is back with her latest single “All In My Head,” a track that perfectly blends powerful vocals that has nothing to envy to top-notch singers as Ariana Grande or Mariah Carey with a soulful rhythm with a few hints to modern Country music. Listen to the track below and let yourself go!
The inspiration behind the new single came to Bryant after she had a revelation about a current relationship. “I wrote ‘All in My Head’ a few years ago after a new relationship I was in suddenly turned sour. I felt like I must be losing my mind to be so unaware of the situation and so isolated in my feelings,” says Bryant.
“A year or so later, my producer, Chris ‘Frenchie’ Smith, heard me running through it and immediately asked if we could make a demo of it,” said Jane. “We sat with that demo and tested the song out live with my band for a while before we went back into the studio and made it all come to life. We wanted it to feel fresh and familiar to what is out there now, while staying true to my sound with real instruments and a little bit of heartbreaking rock ‘n’ roll.”
“‘All in My Head’ represents something special to me as Jane’s producer,” said Frenchie Smith. “She is great at sharing new musical ideas she wants to explore, not only as the performer, songwriter and co-producer, but as an artist who wants to take chances. I respect and am moved by Jane’s desire to define who she is and who she will be in each recording.”
“‘All in My Head’ captures a new sonic adventure for Jane,” said Frenchie. “Blending songwriting with a neon colored resolve, she announces her new single to a multi format of current and new fans. And as always, she brings her all to this track,” – Frenchie.
Since the release of her EP “Twenties” this past summer, Jane has been commanding the attention of the Austin music community. The week of her release, she was named Austin
Monthly’s “Artist of the Month.” “Despite her youthful appearance, Bryant often exudes a wise-
beyond-her-years quality. Her voice at times has a world-weary sultriness,” said Sarah Thurmond, Executive Editor of Austin Monthly.
Following the release show at Lambert’s, Kevin Curtin of the Austin Chronicle said, “The newly released ‘Twenties’ EP churns the bread and butter Americana that served as the main ingredient of Bryant’s 2013 debut ‘Hourglass,’ spread thick with crafty pop and mainstream rock.”
Her hit single and title track from the EP, “Twenties,” was named KUTX’s “Song of the Day” on July 21, 2016. She was also chosen as Austin Music Foundation’s “Artist of the Month” in November 2016, in addition to being selected as one of the participating musicians in their inaugural Artist Development Program, along with acclaimed local acts such as Charlie Faye, Gina Chavez, Jackie Venson, James Junius, Magna Carda and Migrant Kids.
Now, with the forthcoming release of her new single, “All in My Head,” the music community is highly anticipating another hit from this sultry songstress.
