Primary Wave Music Publishing, one of the leading U.S. independent music publishing companies, announced today their worldwide co-publishing and administration deal with Atlantic Records’ recording artist, KIIARA. The multi-million dollar, landmark signing comes on the heels of the company’s 2016 announcement of their partnership with the legendary singer-songwriter, producer, and former record executive, Smokey Robinson and kicks off what is sure to be a remarkable year for the singer as she gears up to release her debut full-length album.
“I’m really excited to be a part of the Primary Wave family. It’s crazy to think that I’m going to be a part of their incredible roster!” says Kiiara. “As a songwriter, to work with a company who believes in you and really lets you keep your vision and artistic integrity in check is really a cool thing, and I look forward to this partnership!”
“I’m thrilled for Kiiara to become part of the Primary Wave family,” says Justin Shukat, President of Primary Wave Music Publishing. He goes on, “She is not only an incredible performer, with an instantly recognizable vocal tone but a very talented songwriter who will be a great addition to our ever growing roster of contemporary creatives.”
Jake Livingston, Head of A&R of Primary Wave Music Publishing, adds, “Kiiara is a beast. Her writing is insane. She has limitless potential as both an artist and writer. She gravitates towards innovative producers and sounds. We are attracted to special voices. It’s a perfect fit. We’re ready to support Kiiara and her team as they share her music with the world.”
With early support from industry tastemakers including Zane Lowe, The Fader, and Nylon; KIIARA was one of the most anticipated and exciting new artists in 2016. Her debut EP, low kii savage, was released on March 26, 2016 and the lead single “Gold” has since been certified 2x platinum in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. The track has been streamed over 350 million times, soared to #1 on the US Top 100 Pop iTunes chart, reached #5 on US Mainstream Top 40, and went to #1 on Shazam’s US Top 100 chart. Kiiara toured the U.S. in support of the 6-song debut, making this her first ever headline tour which included sold out dates across the country. Kiiara has no plans to slow down in 2017 and is currently recording with Cirkut, Martin Garrix, and MAG. This year will see the release of her first full-length album, a performance at Coachella, as well as supporting The Chainsmokers sold out national arena tour.
