Wrapping up another premiere week, we are joining forces with Amy Guess for her visually stunning video for “Enter Sandman” – a video that matches perfectly with the dark music and haunting vocals as modern dance blends with highly conceptual imageries.

We had the opportunity to chat with Amy, check out below what she had to say about the single, new album and more!

Hi Amy, welcome to VENTS!

How have you been? I’ve been good. Thank you.

Can you talk to us more about your latest cover of “Enter Sandman”?

This is a song I’ve always loved over the years, the haunting lyrics and melody, the catchy guitar hook. I felt it would be a great one to strip way back and do something intense but soft and vulnerable in contrast to the original.

Can you talk to us more about the video?

The video was shot here in Vegas at the Artisan hotel – unique unlike any other hotel in this city, like a dark Alice in Wonderland. It was directed by Brandon Christensen, my fellow Canadian bro – such a talent, we met here in Vegas and I’ve been lucky to work with him on a number of projects over the years, he always brings amazing ideas to the table. Everything about the song, the new arrangement, the location said dark dreams to us, the video is a trippy walk through this creepy hotel lost somewhere between nightmare and reality.

How was the recording process?

Right off the bat we wanted it to contrast the original. We decided on a cinematic haunting arrangement with eery vocal stacking to replace the iconic guitar hook and an overall soft fragile vocal throughout.

What was it like to work with Rusty Varenkamp and how did that relationship develop?

I love working with Rusty, he has a great ear, attention to detail, he truly cares to understand my vision and ideas and get that across. He is such a talent, always a joy to work with.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yeah, we sure are! I released an EP on January 20th and we are currently setting up tour dates to support that. I can’t wait to be out sharing this new music on the road.

What else is happening next in Amy Guess’ world?

Working away writing on some exciting projects for other artists as well as some new tunes of my own brewing. I’m super stoked! Lots of new music in the works!
