Hi VENTS reader, thank you for having me, I’m really fine!
So how did you fell in love with electronic dance music and electronic music?
I fell in love with electronic music almost 12 years ago.I always was and very art loving person and and liked a lot different genres of music. But the style called ‘funky house’ back in the days was touching me the most so I started to play this sound.
I understand you run a podcast and also have a musical career – which one started first and did you draw you into the other?
I play as a DJ with vinyl and CD now for 12 years and started out producing five years ago. Then I made a decision to get more people online involved in my music so I started the Podcasts series ‘Deep Woods’, in February we have the one year anniversary already.
In some way, every country in Europe has its own sound, especially when it comes to electronic dance music – how the German musical scene has influence you as an artist?
The German music scene has influenced me a lot of course not because your are my main clubs I play in. But every time I’m outside the country I recognize that the sound works everywhere are perfectly. I live near Berlin and hear the sound is more electronic deep tech housey than in other regions in Germany.
With every episode on your podcast been successful – do you feel any sort of pressure while working on a new one?
Actually I really don’t feel pressure at all. The podcasts are always a good opportunity for me to test out new songs or play some old ones I haven’t played for a long time. Preparing the sets is mind freeing. In the club you want the people to go crazy on the sound you play and for the podcast livestream it’s more like an home.
Speaking of which, how’s usually the recording process for “Deep Woods”?
The process of the sessions is always really spontaneous. The only thing what is fixed is the two weeks time schedule. I always look for new locations sometimes outdoor sometimes indoor and then we meet up with my team prepared the setting. Before that at home I always look for new and old tracks to put in the next set. Then start the liveset on Facebook on and on YouTube and record it too.
What elements do you take in consideration at the time of picking up songs to play?
I would say it’s always the mood of the day.
Do you randomly look around on the internet or how can artist submit to your show?
Actually until now I always took my songs I collected over the years I play but we really want to start and making an call up for artist to send there new stuff. So let’s do it right now! If you want to be in the Deep woods sessions please submit your tracks to: [email protected]
