The Los Angeles Times pegged “Water” as “impossibly catchy” and with over 8 million streams on Spotify it’s clear they aren’t the only ones finding the track irresistible. “Water” resonated throughout 2016 and was a crowd-fave at every show Ra Ra Riot played last year.
In late 2016, Ra Ra Rio held a Wavo remix competition, inviting the world’s best remixers to try their hand at reimagining their hit single. Beating out hundreds of entries, the Canadian producer Inukshuk (Kyle Anderson) ran away with the competition as the band selected his remix as their absolute favorite. Since entering the scene in 2012, The Canadian Inukshuk has been producing a diverse array of electronic genres. He is most known for his singles “Happy Accidents” and “A World Away” which together have racked up over 5 million plays on YouTube.
Ra Ra Riot’s most recent album, Need Your Light, was released last year to world-wide critical acclaim. Like with “Water,” the album features production from long-time collaborator Rostam Batmanglij. The band spent last year not only celebrating their 10 year anniversary as a band but also touring the US multiple times where they played to sold-out houses. 2016 was capped off with a massive tour as support for Young The Giant that included a show at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and The Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
