PREMIERE: Solarrio Releases New Music Video For “Safety of a Mob”

Wrapping up another premiere week, we got this time the vibrant Berlin electronic popster Solarrio whose back with her somewhat psychadelic and colorful video for “Safety of a Mob”. According to Solarrio, he wrote “Safety of a Mob” long before the recent rise of the global populism that has fueled Donald Trump and Brexit: “I’m not taking a political stance. It’s about human rights. It’s about respect for one another.” “Safety of a Mob” is the third single from Solarrio’s forthcoming ’80s-inspired self-titled EP, available January 20th via Believe Digital. More information on Solarrio is available on his official website.

Though the topic of “Safety of a Mob” is heavy, Solarrio seeks to encourage hope: “I want to promote tolerance, understanding and peace – not confusion, anger, and bigotry.” The song displays Solarrio’s knack for writing well-constructed and layered tracks that cunningly capture opposing forces and subtext of the lyrics.

“Safety of a Mob” begins with tinkly keys reminiscent of a lullaby, casting listeners under a spell of fervor. Drum and bass soon pound as the intensity builds. Finally, a classical violin enters to narrate the tragedy that could follow a life lived within the fear-fueled conformity of the madding crowd.

Solarrio has been a music producer and songwriter for over a decade, producing artists such as Raf 3.0. The duo produced “Wie Kannst Du Nur” (“How Can You?”), a heavy drum and bass track that the National Basketball Association (NBA) used for their promo for the 2013 NBA Finals and for their “Forever Dirk” celebration of German player Dirk Nowitzki, who became one of the NBA’s top 10 all-time scoring leaders in 2013.

Solarrio was seemingly born to be a musical innovator. He was born in Paris, France in 1983 to Argentinian conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim and Russian pianist and music director Elena Bashkirova.
