INTERVIEW: The Cuckoos

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Doing very well!

Can you talk to us more about your upcoming EP?

Our upcoming EP is going to be our debut release and will probably be made up of about 6 songs or so.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write the EP?

I would say each song was just inspired by whatever was going on in my life at the time whether that be dropping out of school, or falling in and out of love.

How was the recording and writing process?

We recorded the tracks in a couple of different places and worked with a couple different producers. Most of the songs just started off with little bare-bones demos I would record in my room, then from there we just jam the songs at shows, experiment, and build onto them until they become something we all dig.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Dreams and experiences. They’re just expressions of how we feel.

Any plans to release videos in the near future?

I’m sure we will have a video or two out sometime soon.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Prince, The Doors, The Talking Heads, The Pixies, The Beatles, Tame Impala. All those good groups.

Any plans to hit the road?

Well SXSW is coming up in Austin so we’re gonna be sticking around here to play some shows around town during that time but then we’re planning on possibly doing a short tour in Europe soon, and hopefully will start touring around the states this year.

What else is happening next in The Cuckoos’ world?

Music. A lot more music.
